Andrew, I have to brag on you because I'm so excited... you slept through the night at 9 weeks old! I did have to go in a couple of times to help you fall back asleep, but it only took a minute and you drifted right back off on your own. You slept for 10 hours!! Wow!! You're such a champ. To be completely honest, not being able to sleep has been the hardest part of being your mommy (so far :)). I knew I liked to sleep before you blessed my life, but I never realized how hard it would be for me to go for so long without consistent rest. It's been hard to recognize and battle this apparent weakness of mine as a parent. Luckily, as the weeks go by, it gets easier and easier to be a little more clearheaded despite lack of sleep. I know there will be many sleepless nights ahead for us... if for sickness, worry, fear or just insomnia, I'm still forever thankful that I get to experience it all with you.
Since I'll be going back to work in a few weeks, your nanny Tita has been coming over to spend one day a week with you so that you guys can get to know each other. Yesterday was your first afternoon with Tita and Allie Beth together. You've spent a couple of mornings with them, but you slept the whole time. Allie Beth will be turning 2 next month and she loves getting to see you! She tells Tita that you're "her" baby and she tries to play with you and share her toys with you. I think having you both awake for the 1st time was a challenge for Tita! Neither one of you wanted to nap, which led to some fussiness and I'm sure worry and stress for sweet Tita. This may have led to your desire to sleep through the night last night since you were so exhausted from your active afternoon!
You got to have a pool day with your best girlfriend, Delilah this week! I hope you love to swim like your daddy when you get older!
You also came with mommy to her old work to say goodbye to everyone. You loved visiting with your friend, Zanab. She's so pretty and makes you laugh!
This week you are getting even more smiley and showing me how happy you are. We are having so much fun "talking" together during the day, and I love to hear all your sweet cooing noises when you're talking back to me. We've started giving you a bath every night before bed because you love it so much now. It's so fun to see you so relaxed and happy during your bath time. Most evenings you get so relaxed that you almost always shower your dad or I with a little tinkle :)
Andrew you're 2 months old! You have changed and grown so much in the last couple of weeks. You're still not sleeping too great, but you've been able to go to bed earlier (between 8pm-9pm) and stay asleep longer (until 1am-2am, then up again between 5am-6am, again between 8am-9am). We've switched completely to bottles since nursing didn't seem to make you feel as full and happy as a big bottle does. You're taking between 4-6oz every 3-4 hours during the day. Also you've been putting yourself to sleep in your carseat, which means that you can run errands with mom during the day AND still get a good nap.
You had your first trip to big church last week! You did so good and slept in your Beco Gemini carrier the whole time. Then we all went to brunch at Joe T's and you loved it! This Sunday you also made it to the nursery at church for the first time and you did great!
On Friday we went to see Dr. Jones for your 2 month checkup. You had to get 4 shots! Your daddy held you and that made you feel much better. You slept most of the afternoon and felt much better that evening after your long nap.
You always love talking to your daddy after work and hearing about his day! It's so sweet to see you looking up at him and talking and smiling every afternoon.
I can't wait to hear your sweet laugh! You're also super close to rolling over and I expect you to start doing it any day now! This week I finally got your birth announcement in the mail too :) It only took me 9 weeks to get that done!
Andrew I can't believe you're about to be two months old! In many ways it feels like you've been a part of our lives forever, and then it also feels like you were just born last week. I've haven't done a very good job keeping up with your blog and all that's been going on in your new life, but now that you're sleeping better, I'm going to do a better job going forward!
At your one month appointment, you were 8lbs 11oz! After much effort from both of us, we were able to switch back to just breastfeeding when you were about 3 weeks old. Dr. Jones thought you needed to gain a little more weight, though, so we added in 2 bottles of formula per day, and when we went back to the dr. a week later, you were up to 9lbs 6oz! Dr. Jones then said maybe we didn't need those extra bottles after all :)
Your stats at 1 month:
Weight: 8 lbs 11 oz (25%)
Length : 23 1/2" (>95%... you're so long! Will you be tall like you're daddy one day?)
You've had lots of visitors! Your granddad Papi came to see you and your great grandmother Memama came too!
And 2 of your lady friends have come to play with you too! Miss Delilah and your friend Piper! It won't be long until you're as big as they are!
Here you are with your new little friend, Joyner, at his Sip & See. He's just 2 weeks younger than you are!
You also had your 1st overnight trip away from home the weekend of Mother's Day. We drove to Sulphur Springs to see your DD and your Aunt Kobie and kids. You did so great in the car on the way home (only 20-30 minutes of crying each way :)), but you weren't a big fan of not sleeping in your own house. You decided to stay awake most of the night!
Andrew, you love to be carried! Your daddy and I have spent many afternoons and evenings with you in the baby carrier. Sometimes it seems like this is the only way you can relax and get some rest.
You love to go on walks, but sometimes you get tired of being in your stroller and your daddy has to carry you home while you look around the neighborhood.
You seem to like sitting up in your bumbo chair around 7 weeks old and you're not fan of tummy time, even when daddy tries to do it with you...
Here you are at your 1st trip to the golf course and the grocery store!
You also smiled for the 1st time at 7 weeks old! It makes our hearts sing to see your sweet smile. You like to smile a lot in the mornings, but we have to work for those grins :)
Mommy had such a special Mother's Day because of you! You make my life so wonderful and I'm so thankful that God chose me to be your mommy!
Your dad and I aren't the best at keeping up with your sleeping schedule, but I think you're doing amazing at learning how to sleep at night. At 6 weeks, you slept for 6 hours straight! wow! Mommy felt so rested! Then you went back to sleeping just 3-4 hours at night. When you were about 8 weeks old, you slept another 6 hours for us, and we're hoping you can keep it up! Your tummy has been hurting you lately, so we decided to switch to Sensitive Formula to see if you feel better. We've been on formula for 2 days, and you seem to feel a little better.
We love you SO very much, sweet boy! Next week is your 2 month checkup, and we can't wait to see how much you've grown!
